Mastering



Mastering is the final creative step in the recording process. It's about refining the sound to allow the project to realize its full potential, and optimizing the finished product for all possible environments. The mastering process includes the following:

  • Overall equalization for clarity and consistency

  • Making volume levels appropriate to maintain consistency across the album

  • Provide proper spacing and fades

  • Noise removal

  • Sequencing of the songs or audio material

  • Creating any materials needed for replication (e.g. final pre-master, etc.)

  • Helps to ensure that the audio will "translate" well between different playback systems
